This manuscript collection contains the archives of the League of Women Voters - Clemson Area [LWVCA]. Since 1968, the LWVCA, has served the people of Clemson, Central, Easley, Six Mile, Pickens, Liberty, Dacusville, Seneca, Walhalla, Westminster, Salem, Mountain Rest, Anderson, and Pendleton by encouraging the informed and active participation of citizens in government through education and advocacy.
This collection consists of the personal papers of Lemuel A. Garrison, the majority of which document his long career with the National Park Service. In addition, there are some personal papers of his wife, Inger Larsen Garrison.
James Corcoran Littlejohn worked at Clemson College from the time he graduated in 1908 until his retirement in 1954. He was the college's first register beginning in 1910 and its first business manager beginning in 1926. The bulk of the papers are related to his career. His daughter Mary Katherine Littlejohn added some material related to her own life as well as posthumous material concerning her father.
The Collection includes photographs and negatives taken between 1884 and 1915. All but one were taken in Pendleton, SC. There are six photographs and two negatives which include photographs of a band wagon, Redshirts reunions, a New Year's Eve Party and a picture of Louise Hunter and four friends taken in Whitewater, NC.
The papers of Frances P. Mainella contain awards/certificates, correspondence, memoranda, photographs, VHS, DVD, and speeches related to her career in both the Florida State and National Park Service, 1983-2006, no date.
