Scope and Contents "Family Life at Pendleton" is a photocopy of the third chapter of Langdon Cheves: Planting and Politics in South Carolina, 1829-1841, a thesis written in 1968 by Huff while a student at Duke University. Introduction Dr. William Hayne Mills, a Clemson faculty member during the 1930s, was instrumental in obtaining this material from Joseph Wightman Reid, for many years Secretary of the South Carolina State Grange, E. Fifth Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers Ledger

Scope and Contents

A one volume account book of approximately 100 pages remaining within 259 numbered pages, showing accounts with soldiers and officers of the regiment and others. The ledger has suffered considerable damage and many pages are missing. J. H. Stribling's name appears in the volume for several entries, 1892-1894. Stribling was a member of the first class to enter Clemson.
