Steel engraving by J.B. Longacre from a painting of General Andrew Pickens (1739-1817) by T. Sully after an original portrait. Pickens was a brigadier general in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. The mat has a reproduction of Pickens' signature.

Scope and Contents The collection contains books, correspondence, miscellaneous papers and photographs gathered by Mary Conrad Stevenson, former head of Cataloging in the Clemson University Library, who began her research in 1959 and again in 1974. Abstract

The John H. Reaves Photographs Collection is a useful resource for researching nineteenth century costume, hairstyles, and photographic processes as well as documenting John H. Reaves’ service in the 98th Ohio Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War.

The collection contains ambrotypes, cartes de visites, daguerreotypes, paper prints, and tintypes depicting the appearance of several individuals, with most dating from the latter half of the nineteenth century.
