The majority of the material in the 205th Field Press Censorship Detachment Records document its administrative history and activities, particularly training conducted and undertaken by the unit. There are also research papers that discuss various aspects of military press censorship, including how press censorship was implemented in the European Theater during World War II and during the Korean War. Finally, the collection contains a 1988 obituary for Ernest Theodore “Ted” Simms, Jr., a professor of horticulture at Clemson University and a former commander of the 205th.
The Records are arranged alphabetically by folder title and cover the period from 1950 to 1990, with the bulk of the collection dating from 1953 to 1976.
