Scope and Contents

A collection of six black and white photographs and their negatives depicting residents of the town of Calhoun, SC. The first depicts a man, two women, and a child in a baby carriage standing in front of a house. "Myra and Jerry Paines home at Calhoun" is written along the bottom. The second depicts two children seated side by side, they are looking to the right of the camera. The third shows a man and a young boy seated on a stone half wall. The fourth is a portrait of a somber looking man with mutton chops looking straight into the camera. "2nd Lt. Aaron Boggs, Co. B. 10th Battalion, Cavalry, So. Carolina Volunteers. Resigned: Commanding Officer Major [?] Stokes, Co. B., 2nd Battalion Cavalry, Company Officer Capt. John C. Calhoun" is written on the back. The fifth is an arrangement of newspaper clippings andsmall photographs. From left to right: A clipping of an 11 month old Marion Boggs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. N. Boggs; a partial clipping of an article titled "Left Farm for Laundry Career" about the Dillard Brothers, Frank and Baylis, and their work with the Clemson College Laundry; a photograph of two young girls holding kittens; and a portrait of a young boy with "School Days 1944-45" written along the bottom. The final photograph is of a mustached man in a three piece suit with "Reckling Columbia, S.C." printed along the bottom.
