This series contains the records of the College of Agricultural Sciences which covers the periods from 1940-1941 and 1953-1995; however, most of the records span 1970-1989. The records consist of correspondence, listings, meeting minutes, memoranda, proposals, publications, reports and self-studies. Also included in the collection are photographs. The folders in this series are arranged alphabetically by folder title and then chronologically within each folder. Publications and photographs are filed at the end of the series.
Materials relating to Cooperative Extension Service and nutrition programs are filed in this series. Departmental self-studies of the College of Agricultural Sciences can be found here as well. In addition, there are a number of proposals for graduate programs for different fields of study, as well as undergraduate programs in economic biology and landscape architecture. Also included are faculty listings dating from 1959-1981.
Prominent correspondents include Luther P. Anderson, Stephen R. Chapman (Director of Instruction) and William H. Wiley, Deans of the College of Agricultural Sciences; Adger B. Carroll, State Leader of Extension Community and Resource Development Programs; Wayne T. O'Dell, Director of Cooperative Extension Service; and T.L. Senn, Head of the Horticulture Department.
Photographs in the series cover such topics as agricultural exhibits, instructors and students examining eggs and cuts of meat, and instructors demonstrating farm machinery. In addition, there are photographs of students working with plants, horses and cattle, as well as in classrooms and laboratories. Also included are photographs relating to farming, handling and research of cotton; soil conservation and water recreation/conservation.
There are no restrictions on the use of this series beyond those of the Special Collections Library.
