Scope and Contents

Carbon typescripts (38 pages) of the manuscript, The Romance of Fort Hill, written by Mrs. Mitchell in 1938. A photograph of a drawing of Fort Hill, the plantation of John C. Calhoun, drawn to Mrs. Mitchell's specifications, given by Jack Tuttle to the Library in 1961. This photograph is filed in the Mss Negatives and Photographs file. November 23, 1940, copy of A.G. Holmes letter to Mrs. Mitchell concerning the restoration of Fort Hill, witnessed by Muriel Rutledge, Librarian for the Archives, and a corrections sheet signed by Mrs. Mitchell and notarized by William B. Keller, May 5, 1955. 3 pages. The Romance of Fort Hill was published in two parts in the South Carolina Magazine, September and October 1955.
