Stuart's diary begins on February 5, 1828 and concludes on June 8, 1828. This diary mentions prominent Pendleton families, an eyewitness account of a public execution in Pendleton and includes intellectual, religious and romantic speculations. Stuart describes a Pavilion circus that came to Pendleton and a horse trip to Rabun. There are some poems, including one to Rebecca Whitner, and a speech delivered at Elberton, Georgia. There are twelve pages of accounts from an unidentified general merchandise store in Elberton, Georgia, 1857-1859.
