This collection contains a travelogue documenting European trips in 1965 and 1978, a picture book / brochure featuring Clemson United Methodist Church, 1961, a certificate of admission to Phi Kappa Phi (Georgia, 1935), three photographs with accompanying negatives [depicting family?], two hand-written narratives ("Thirty-Two Years in Tillman Hall: A Personal Recollection, 1972" and "Remarks and Welcome on Behalf of Clemson University to State Conference of AAUP, April 21, 1979"), and two theses: Carlyle in America, 1938 and John Trotwood Moore: A Tennessee Man of Letters, 1953.
Claud Bethune Green was born on October 23, 1914 in Clayton, Georgia, the son of John Claud and Dora Mozeley Green. He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Georgia in 1935 and 1938, respectively. He received a PhD from Duke University in 1953. Claud Green taught at Clemson Agricultural College of South Carolina for 39 years starting in 1940 in capacities such as Professor of English, Acting Head of the Department of English, Director of Summer Sessions, Assistant Dean of the University, and Dean of Undergraduate Studies until his death in June of 1979.
