The correspondence in the collection is between Daniel Pope and William Bower & Son of Savannah, GA, and Liverpool, England, regarding the sale of sea island cotton during 1891-1892. The accounts and receipts are for cotton sales and purchases of J.J.T. Pope.
Daniel T. Pope and J.J.T. Pope were South Carolina sea island cotton planters; Daniel Pope on Edisto Island and J.J.T. Pope on St. Helena Island.
