The collection consists of a photocopy of Jones' diary for the period September 6, 1908-June 11, 1909, when he attended Clemson College; there is also a November 25, 1975, transmittal letter from Joe Sherman, Director of Alumni Relations to Gordon Gourlay, Director of Libraries and Gourlay's reply of December 1, 1975. Jones describes his life as a student at Clemson, including his professors, his courses, his attendance at church services, visits to town, football and social activities, both at Clemson and other locations, especially Columbia, SC.
Allen Jones was born in 1887. He apparently attended the University of South Carolina to 1907, then attended Clemson College 1908-1909; he received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson. He was the General Superintendent for the Muscogee Manufacturing Company in Columbus, Georgia. Jones died in 1975.
