Armistead Burt, son of Francis Burt, of Pendleton District, South Carolina moved to Abbeville, South Carolina and became U.S. Congressman 1843-1853. He married Martha Calhoun, niece of John C. Calhoun.

Mr. Burt died at the home of Col. J.T. Robertson, Abbeville, 1883. His son, J.T. Robertson passed the Burt items to A.M. Robertson.
