This involvement included charitable organizations, councils,boards and commissions and statewide organizations. Charitable organizations include the American Red Cross; Carolina United Community Services and United Community Chest. These records include correspondence and committee meeting reports. Inclusive dates are 1921-1963. The councils, boards and commissions include correspondence primarily from the Spartanburg County dating mainly from 1957-1963. A small amount of material from the South Carolina National Guard, correspondence 1908-1913, is also included in this series.
