Introduction

This collection consists mainly of Gaston G. Gage's correspondence relating to Clemson College, the School of Textiles, and his various personal interests. It includes several essays presented at the Clemson Forum Club. Gage's correspondence documents his career as a professor and dean at Clemson University, as well as his involvment in community and church affairs. There is some material related to his wife, Ruth Vardell Gage (1899-1981).

Scope and Content Note The files within this series originated in Dean's Office of the School of Textiles. The series consists of the files of Dean H. H. Willis (1934-1943), Dean Robert K. Eaton (Acting Dean, 1943-1945), Dean Hugh M. Brown (1945-1957), and Dean Gaston Gage (1957-1963). Files are arranged chronologically by the academic school year and within years, alphabetically. Scope and Contents This original volume includes membership list, premium lists, constitution, minutes of meetings; two unattached pages, 1860; three undated newsclipping fragments; and one 1857 newsclipping pasted on fly leaf.
