Activated in 1953 as the 205th Field Press Censorship Organization. Reorganized and redesignated in 1960as the 205th Field Press Censorship Detachment. Reorganized and redesignated in 1972 as the 205th Public Information Detachment (Field Press Censorship). Inactivated in 1976. Redesignated in 1992 as the 205th Public Affairs Detachment Activated in 1995 at Garner, NC. Inactivated at Garner in 2001. Reactivated in 2011 at Fort Sam Houston, TX.
